Our Aims

As professional archaeologists our overriding aim is to develop our understanding and knowledge of our heritage by carrying out high quality archaeological projects to the benefit of both our commercial clients and the general public.

Our Standards

Our heritage, whether it is one of our Scheduled Monuments, a historic building, or a known or unknown archaeological site, is a finite and irreplaceable resource.Suffolk Archaeology recognises that, as archaeological fieldwork is by its very nature destructive, we only have one chance to properly ‘preserve by record’ a site for posterity and therefore ensures that its projects meet the highest professional archaeological standards.

Our Team

By drawing on its exceptional knowledge and experience, primarily of Suffolk and its heritage, but also of the East Anglian region as a whole, our team can help you with any kind of archaeological or heritage project.

Our History

Suffolk Archaeology CIC was established in February 2015 through the divestment of the Field Team of Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service. At the same time the two offices in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich were transferred, together with all staff, projects and archives, to our current premises in Needham Market.

Our Friends

As a Community Interest Company we endeavour to maintain relationships with, or promote support for, a variety of local heritage groups and societies and a range of other businesses with a view to increasing interest and investment in the heritage of Suffolk and East Anglia.
