Join Suffolk Archaeology: Senior Finds Assistant vacancy

We are seeking to recruit a senior finds assistant for our post-excavation team, who will take on a key role in finds processing and in the initial quantification, recording and inputting of basic finds data, for projects generated in a predominantly commercial environment. The successful candidate will also provide assistance with supervision of volunteers and other members of staff, finds archiving, and general finds administration. They will have the opportunity to participate in outreach and community projects, working on finds from the rich archaeological heritage of Suffolk.

Applicants should have proven experience in finds processing and cataloguing and have the ability to work within allocated time periods and budgets for individual projects. They should be able to work methodically and be able to recognise basic finds types so they can be quantified and recorded rapidly and accurately.

The vacancy provides an exciting opportunity to join this vibrant and developing company and to work on a wide range of projects in our tailor-made facilities, in an area which has a wealth of significant archaeology. We offer a number of benefits including full payment of CIfA subscription, childcare vouchers and appropriate training. This position would suit an enthusiastic person who has previously worked with finds but who is looking to develop their core skills.
