Come and join us for our third annual Warehouse Open Day on July 21st 2018 to find out what has been happening over the last twelve months…
This year at our Warehouse Open Day we will be presenting the results from some of our recent projects, including the site dig diaries and time lapse films from the Fornham All Saints excavation. In addition to our usual mix of displays and finds we will once again be hosting various workshops for all ages across the day such as pottery making, storytelling and weaving.
We will also be joined a by a range of other organisations and groups. These include our friends from Hands on Heritage and their wood whittling workshop, members of the Colchester Roman Society who will be bringing along examples of Roman military equipment, the Suffolk Archaeology Field Group who will be displaying their results from recent geophysical surveys and community projects and the Elmswell History Group who will have a display on their Heritage Lottery Fund project on the Lost WW1 Aerodrome at Elmswell.
This year we are also pleased to welcome along Hatty Ashton, author of There's a Head in My Bed, reading her book about the story of St Edmund and a bunch of silly Saxons and not-so-valiant Vikings! There will also be screenings of a newly made documentary on the Witches of West Suffolk, produced by Bring Out Your Dead Productions and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Finally we will also be running our popular Archaeo-Café in support of a local charity.
This is a free event with no booking required. It will run from 10am to 4pm in our our warehouse on the Lion Barn Industrial Estate, Needham Market, Suffolk, IP6 8NZ
