Ex-Crane Fluid Systems Ltd site, Nacton Road

An archaeological excavation was carried out on a small area within a former factory site (Crane Fluid Systems Ltd.), Nacton Road, Ipswich, in advance of the redevelopment of the site. An area of 600 squares metres was reduced to the level of the natural subsoil revealing three pits. As no datable artefacts were recovered from these features radiocarbon dating was undertaken on charcoal samples from the fills.
